arsanatomica:

Hey guys, I’m super excited to introduce a project that’s been under wraps for a while.

BIORAMAS™!

I hate wet specimens. They look horrible.
They were initially created to preserve specimens for study.
Which is fine, but…..it’s 2018.

Natural history has steadily become democratized. The great museums collections we saw as kids have crept into our homes and image of the dead animal floating in tea-colored jars is no longer acceptable.

Bioramas™ are fluid specimens that seek to preserve the creature at hand, not as specimens, but as the animals they once were, and a piece of the world they were part of.

Created in a modern aesthetic with age old techniques, these specimens are created without formalin, formaldehyde or any toxic or carcinogenic chemicals.

They’re intended for display in a personal or home collections, because Anatomy is for everyone and everywhere, not just scientists and museums.

These are already available in the Gift shop and will trickle in throughout the holiday season. Take a look here:

A portion of proceeds from the sale of Bioramas™ will going to the World Wildlife Fund to help preserve the habitat for these animals in the wild.

“The Womb”

I noticed a few spikes were sticking out of the pond with duckweed and I wondered what it was. It turned out to be a young little hedgehog that drowned… Such a horrible and scary death for this small creature.
I went to the old cemetery, as this place is so beautiful and special to me to make berry mandala for it, to symbolize it’s return to Nature’s womb.
